Today was the final day in Santiago Nonualco for Triumph. In the last three days, the Triumph team dug 51 meters into the ground, built a well, taught important personal hygiene lessons to the children, bonded with the villagers, and gave the community something they didn’t have before, clean water.
The morning started out with a few finishing touches on the well. The team lowered the pump mechanism into the well hole and then secured the upper portion of the pump lever. After everything was in place, they began pumping out water until it came out clear and clean.

In the afternoon, both morning and afternoon kids and their families gathered for the well decorating ceremony. To start it off, the Triumph team performed a Good Samaritan skit, teaching the importance of showing compassion and helping others, especially those in need. Following shortly after, seven beautifully dressed girls took the stage and performed a traditional blue hat dance.

In the final moments of the celebration, the community pastor, community leader and the school principal gave their eternal gratitude and presented each Triumph member with a handmade pottery gift, made by the students themselves.

Starting with a seed, the idea of giving the gift of clean water to a deserving community, the Triumph team put in countless hours to make it blossom into reality. While this was goodbye to the people of Santiago Nonualco, our team took comfort in knowing they were leaving behind not only the gift of clean water, but also the hope of a bigger and brighter future.
